Morgan’s Grant is one of the newer subdivisions in Kanata, and is located at the North end of Kanata including the Kanata North Business Park. The Kanata North business sector is one of Canada’s most vibrant technology industry area’s and home to more than 500 companies employing more than 21,000 technology employees.
Neighbourhoods
Kanata Lakes
Kanata Lakes is the home of Beaver Pond Trail, which is a 2.0 km loop trail that boasts excellent views of the two beaver ponds. Since 2011, Beaver pond has been provincially protected wetlands that provide habitat for a variety of protected species. Kanata Golf and Country Club, a Clublink owned golf course, is situated right in the heart of the community and known as one of the best maintained course in the Ottawa area. Also located in part of Kanata Lakes are the sailing club, bicycle club, as well as a tennis club. The Mlacak Hockey Rink is also located in Kanata Lakes and is the home of the Kanata Knights. The Kanata Lakes area is just a short walk to the Centrum Shopping Area. There you’ll find Landmark Theatre, many restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and furniture stores.
Bridlewood
Settled in the early 19th century, Kanata’s Bridlewood-Emerald Meadows neighbourhood is bordered by the Greenbelt in the north, Hope Side Road in the south, the Greenbelt and Richmond Road to the east, and Eagleson Road to the west. The area remained mainly agricultural until residential development began in the 1970’s. Bridlewood-Emerald Meadows has enjoyed steady growth ever since, and today is home to more than 22,000 people.
Katimavik-Hazeldean
In 1866 Hazeldean was a small village with a population of about 50 people, in the Goulbourn Township. Located in this tiny village was a general store; one common school with an average attendance of 24 students, and one church.
Glen Cairn is one of the areas in Katimavik and is the home of A.Y. Jackson Secondary School, the only public high school in the Katimavik-Hazeldean area.
Glen Cairn
The spirit of the community started with developer Bill Connelly adding in the ‘extras’ – like buried hydro lines – at a time when other builders wouldn’t. Connelly built most of the early part of Glen Cairn in the mid 1960’s. Bungalows, split levels and 2 storey homes are all located on large lots and tree-lined mature yards. With a public pool, library, tennis courts as well as the Jack Charron Arena, Glen Cairn is a wonderful community in which to raise your children, or to downsize upon retirement.

The Marshes Golf Club is Ottawa’s leading corporate-play facility, bringing one of the nation’s finest golf experiences to the very doorstep of the city’s thriving business community. Adjacent to the golf course is the Brookstreet Hotel, Ottawa’s leading 4-Diamond Hotel, Resort and Conference Center.
Morgan’s Grant has several recreational pathways, a number of playgrounds, a public elementary school, a French public elementary school, and a variety of services. A shopping plaza at the corner of March Rd. and Klondike Rd. features a walk-in clinic, dental office, a selection of fast-food establishments, a Shoppers Drug Mart, and a TD Canada Trust.
Beaverbrook
Beaverbook is the first and oldest residential neighbourhood in Kanata. Beaverbrook was an agricultural part of March Township until the 1960s when developer and planner Bill Teron set about creating a planned Garden City community. When he started, it was only a cornfield, but now it is one of the most desirable communities in Kanata with it’s beautiful mature trees, large residential lots, superb recreational facilities and proximity to schools, shopping and all amenities.
